Brazilian Bia Haddad Maia met her opponent on Saturday at the São Paulo Open debut, WTA 250 Tournament. The first number 22 challenge in the world in the competition that will be played at Villa-Lobos Park in Sao Paulo will be against an athlete coming from the qualifying.

In a press conference last Friday (5), Bia Haddad stated that the realization of this type of competition is of great importance for the development of sports in the country: “When I think we are back with a WTA 250 in Brazil, and now in São Paulo [a cidade onde nasci] It is very special. Creating this environment, offering inspiration for girls, boys and young people who dream of playing great tournaments is essential. Another highlight will be the first duel among Brazilian women in the current edition of the competition, which will involve Paulistas Carolina Meligeni and Nauhany Silva, Nana.
SP Open
The SP Open, which will be played between September 6 and 14, will bring together 32 players, 16 Qualifying tennis players and 16 in the doubles. The competition will be held at Villa-Lobos Park in São Paulo.
