The Ministry of Citizen Safety and Protection (SSPC) reported that since last September 1, the pilot test of the mobile telephone users registry was launched as part of the strategies to combat crimes such as extortion, fraud and other illicit committed by using telephone lines.
These actions are in charge of the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT), as well as the Telcel, Movistar, AT&T, Bait and Altán operators.
To do this, an agreement was signed between the head of the National Coordination Unit of Digital Infrastructure of the ATDT, Jorge Luis Pérez Hernández, and the representatives of the telephone companies, at the SSPC facilities.
During the act, Jorge Luis Pérez explained that this test will allow defining actions and areas of improvement in the registration processes of the telephone lines and users in charge of the concessionaires and marketers of the mobile service, prior to the mandatory operation of the registration contemplated in the new law on telecommunications and broadcasting.
They will identify users with the CURP
The identification of the users said, it will be done through some official document that contains the single population registration key, in order to link them with the telephone line that hire or acquire in the Customer Service Centers, whose personal data will be under the protection of the telephone companies, in accordance with the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data in possession of obliged subjects, and the Government will not have access to them, the SSPC reported.
This exercise will conclude in October, “with the entry into force of the new provisions in telecommunications, which will make the registration of new telephone lines at all points of sale, and in the case of active lines, they will have a period for registration, for which companies will enable remote modality to facilitate this process to users.”
