To ensure the safety of residents and tourists, The Military Police anticipated Operation Summer 2025/2026 for this weekend. 1,380 military police will be employed daily, with special attention to the waterfront and coastal cities, in addition to the expressways and highways of access to the municipalities with the highest tourist movement.
As part of the planning, the Military Police held an alignment meeting involving various municipal agencies, with the purpose of avoiding episodes of bus depredation, as well as thefts and theft, at the time of the city’s beaches.
Besides the expansion of the use of monitoring technologies, The action will have multidisciplinary teams, employed as part of the protocol of approaches to children and adolescents. This protocol was agreed between the State Security Forces, municipal agencies, the Public Prosecution Service, the Public Defender’s Office and the representative entities of civil society.
“Our commitment is to ensure that residents and tourists can enjoy the summer season with peace of mind. We are expanding the use of technology and reinforcing integration with different institutions to offer more security throughout the state,” said Military Police Secretary Colonel Marcelo de Menezes Nogueira.
According to the secretary, the strategy of Operation Summer reinforces the preventive character of actions, prioritizing the protection of the population. “The integration between security forces, municipal agencies and civil society entities is fundamental to achieve more effective results,” he explained.
Patrolling
Throughout the state’s coastal strip, patrolling will be performed with vehicles, motorcycles and quads circulating also by the sand. On the busiest beaches, there will be tents as points of support for the police and reference for the population.
In the capital, policing will be more concentrated in the area between Leme and Pontal, using horses of the Mounted Police Regiment (RPMont) and the Battalion of Dog Action.
Throughout these ways, buses that go to the waterfront will be monitored and may be intercepted if actions that put safety in public transportation are identified. There will also be operations at bus terminals and subway stations.
