After the statement issued by the majority of countries in the community of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC), in which they express their concern for the US military deployment, in the Caribbean Sea, specifically against the Venezuelan coast, the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, reiterated that it is a threat against the region, and that it is a symptom of despair of those who have not been able to reverse 26 years of Bolivarian revolution.
In a telephone contact with the Venezuelan television state channel (VTV), he indicated that this pronouncement is a issue of sovereignty, dignity and international law.
He recalled that most Celac countries have ratified their adhesion and defense of Latin America as a peace zone, as signed in the statement of the summit held in 2014 in Havana, Cuba, whose document was presented to the UN.
He said that today CELAC has come to tell the world that the region “will continue to be a peace zone”, but also to demand that the Tlatelolco treaty is not violated, which declares this region free of nuclear weapons.
“In its madness, Marco Rubio has promoted the presence of a nuclear submarine, being Latin America a nuclear weapons free zone,” in frank violation of this treaty that also USA committed to respect in 1971, the Foreign Minister Yván Gil recalled.
In his words, Gil said that CELAC has been planted firmly, sovereignly and dignifiedly “indistinctly from ideological positions”, because it is a issue of dignity and demanding that international law be respected.
“We are proud to see that Celac is in front; to see that all the efforts that have been made in diplomatic matters have their fruits in a region that is planted, that protects its territory and tells the rest of the world that we are united here against military aggression, against the threat of the use of force,” he said.
The representative of the Bolivarian diplomacy said that the US does not cease in his eagerness to assault Venezuela; However, a firm wall has been found in Latin America, which today has given an answer “to that hatred that wants to sow Marco Rubio and the Crazys Cubans Mayameros that try to kidnap United States foreign policy and direct an arms race in the region. ”
In that sense, he stressed that Latin America will not tolerate military deployments in the region and less under the excuse of fighting with drug trafficking, knowing that the US, through the DEA, is the main country that supports this illegal activity.
“In the reports issued by the UN, Venezuela has never been mentioned as a drug traffic site and less as a country that protects drug trafficking, but quite the opposite,” so, Marco Rubio is able to contradict US departments and scientists who do not point to Venezuela as a country linked to drug trafficking.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil said that the Venezuelan government has the capacity to demonstrate to the world that it is not drug producer and fights drug trafficking and organized crime.
“No one in their right mind can endorse the irrationality that Marco Rubio and his clique try to impose,” he said.
