The president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella, expressed his disagreement with the elimination of the 50+1 to win the Presidency of the Republic in a possible constitutional reform, as has been promoted in some political sectors.
During an interview on the Despierta program with CDN, Eduardo Estrella was emphatic in pointing out that “I do not agree with removing 50 plus one, I would not vote for that,” he said.
Estrella asked the opposition, who withdrew from the Social Economic Council, to re-participate in the national dialogue and raise their points on the modification of the Magna Carta.
“I appeal to the opposition to reconsider that decision and sit down at the table for dialogue and their opinion,” said Estrella.
The president of the Senate maintained that political actors should not evade any issue, but treat it responsibly.
“If there is a dialogue and there are 12 points on the table, state your position,” he said.
He specified that in the dialogue on the reform of the Magna Carta, convened by the Government, there are points that must be addressed, such as the independence of the Public Ministry and the unification of the elections.
He also cited the Criminal Code and the preliminary draft of the law of domain extinction, the latter, according to the official, focused on the crimes of corruption, money laundering, drug trafficking and recovering the public treasury.
“The domain law seeks to recover state property and no one can oppose it,” he said.
He stated that the laws submitted on February 27 are discussed by the main commissions.
In the case of the project to modify the hydrocarbons law, he pointed out that it is studied by the Treasury commission and said that the commissions have been created. “What is missing is to debate the projects,” he said.
