The Federal Government announced on Thursday (4) The Gas Program of the Peoplewhich will guarantee free cooking gas to the low -income population, with the expectation of serving about 15.5 million families. The initiative replaces the old gas voucher, in which the beneficiary received the value in cash. Now, It will be possible to remove the gas cylinder from free form directly in resellers accredited to the program. According to the government, change increases efficiency, transparency and control of public policy.
Who is entitled to the benefit?
Will be entitled to the gas cylinder Families registered in CadÚnico with monthly income of up to half a minimum wage (R $ 759) per person. Who receives Bolsa Familia (Income per capita up to R $ 218) will have preference in the gas of the people.
How will the removal of cylinders be?
The beneficiary will remove the cylinders directly in the accredited resale closest to his homewithout intermediaries. There will be no cash payment at the time of withdrawal.
The gratuity will be granted at the time of purchase, upon electronic validation in the skilled resale. According to the government, the authorization for withdrawal will be given by four modalities, still in the detail.

When does it start to be worth?
The forecast of the government is that the first cylinders begin to be delivered in November 2025. The transition from the gas valley, in cash, to the gas of the people, with the removal of the cylinders, will be gradual.
How many cylinders will each family win?
- Up to six cylinders per family will be distributed, depending on the number of residents of each house.
- Families with 2 members: will receive up to 3 cylinders per year. Each valley will be valid for 4 months.
- Families with 3 members: will receive up to 4 cylinders a year. Each valley will be valid for 4 months.
- Families with 4 or more members: will receive up to 6 cylinders per year. Each valley will be valid for 4 months.
How will the resellers be registered?
Resellers who want to participate in the program should be voluntarily accredited by Caixa Econômica Federal. They must meet standard visual identity requirements, and are able to operate with the electronic valley.
How to identify a resale that participates in the program?
The People’s Gas Program provides that the skilled resale adopts the program’s visual identity rules, whether in ordinances, transport vehicles, communication materials and cylinder itself. In addition, the beneficiary’s application will show the updated list of accredited resellers.
