A 4×4 truck fell to an abyss of more than 500 meters in the Boca Sonaro sector, Pangoa district, leaving a deceased person, a seriously injured and four minor injured.

The victim was identified as Gilverta Rivera Vilchez, a native of San Antonio (Unión Progreso, La Mar, Ayacucho), who died instantly after the rollover. According to preliminary reports, the vehicle transferred more than eight people to San Antonio, but lost control in a difficult transit area.

Four occupants managed to jump from the vehicle seconds before the fall, resulting with minor injuries. Another passenger remains serious and was transferred to a health center. The recovery of Rivera’s body demanded more than three hours for the depth of the abyss, with support from settlers, Serenazgo de Pangoa and the National Police. The authorities investigate the causes of the accident in one of the most risky routes of VRAEM.
