For its part, the environmental activist Xiye Bastida He called all sectors of society to participate to inform themselves and propose actions that reduce the effects of climate change.
He said that, although a large number of young people become aware of the importance of reducing the effects of climate change, it is necessary that more people, organizations and the government get involved in this issue to achieve “climatic justice” for future generations.
“Mexico is heated to 3.2 degrees (Celsius) per century, the world is heated on average to two degrees per century, which means that Mexico suffers the impacts of the climate crisis more accelerated than other countries,” he warned.
Erika Valencia Torres, Mexico coordinator for the weather, explained that different actors, activists and governments will meet in Mexico City to share ideas, experiences and generate concrete actions and a climatic agenda in Mexico City.
He said that issues such as planetary awakening, catalytic innovation, resilient ecosystems, sustainable cities, circular economy, sustainable mobility, among others will be discussed.
“It is a space to be able to make a great echo to the world, in order to inspire other cities and other countries of what Mexico will be doing and have lines of work around 2030,” he said.
