This Wednesday, the Chamber of Deputies will deal with the project that repeals the law on the mandatory use of face masks, which, in the interpretation of some, has already lost its validity. The proposal appears under item 10 of the agenda.

The project presented by the independent deputy Jorge Brítez that repeals the law on the mandatory use of hygienic masks, was turned over to the Legislation and Codification, Budget and Accounts and Control commissions for their opinion.

The text clarifies that those who so wish may continue to use the mask, but what the new legislation eliminates is the obligation and not the optional use.

For the approval, modification or rejection of the project, a simple majority is required, that is, half plus one of those present.

A sector of the library says that the law on the mandatory use of face masks is no longer in force, since the duration of the regulation was extended for the duration of the pandemic “decreed” by the Executive, and currently there are no health decrees.

Others, on the other hand, believe that the legislation is still in progress because the health emergency continues and because the finalization of the mask law was not made official.
