Santo Domingo.– A tremor of magnitude 4.6 was recorded on Thursday morning, 7.6 kilometers southwest of San José de Ocoa, without personal or material damage being reported so far.
According to Ismael Gómez, analyst at the National Sismology Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the earthquake occurred at 9:28 in the morning, with a depth of 10 kilometers, latitude 18.50 and length 70.55.
The telluric movement felt strongly in several provinces, including San Cristóbal, Baní, Azua and Santo Domingo, generating alarm among the population.
In some workplaces, such as the El Huacal building, where several government offices operate, employees evacuated the facilities and concentrated on the streets as a preventive measure.
The authorities maintain monitoring, although they reiterate that there have been no reports of effects so far.
