The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) yesterday defined the work route that will continue after the disappearance of the rooms, by approving 14 general agreements in private session, and determined that their first public session will be on September 11, with the discussion of projects of the three ministers who repeated in office and were not voted by the previous integration of the high court.

With these measures, the nine ministers will seek to reduce the lag of more than 1,500 pending issues and comply with the new constitutional provision that sets a maximum period of six months to resolve each case.

According to judicial sources, the plenary will meet with a model similar to that of the extinct Salas, which is to divide the issues by matters, vote them in package and stop to discuss in which there is no consensus.

Four days of session a week were agreed: Monday and Tuesday to analyze constitutional actions and controversies, while Wednesday and Thursday the issues that previously knew the rooms – criminal, civil, family, commercial, fiscal, labor and administrative -, applying the same dynamic debate dynamics will be discussed.

One of the agreements indicates that each minister must issue a resolution in a maximum of six months since he receives a case in his presentation. If not, you will have to justify the delay before the Disciplinary Court. To transparent compliance with this commitment, a public platform will be created in which citizens can monitor the resolution time of each file.

The redesign also considers administrative adjustments. Each presentation will have a slightly larger budget, passing just over 5.4 to 5.9 million pesos annually, because the work will increase after the reduction of the plenary of 11 to nine ministers. In addition, for the first time, the president of the Court will present its own presentations, at the request of Hugo Aguilar Ortiz, who assumed the position on September 1.

Although the agreements have not yet been made public in their entirety, they cover issues such as the return of matters to courts and courts for their resolution, opening of public hearings, review of income and competence originally from the Court.

The first public session of the new Plenary was scheduled for September 11. That day and projects of the ministers Yasmín Esquivel Mossa, Loretta Ortiz Ahlf and Lenia Batres Guadarrama, which were pending the previous integration of the High Court will be discussed.
