Motor vehicle sales maintained in August the rhythm of high and accumulated by 2025 the best result since 2014. The data were released on Wednesday (3) by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
Last month, 431,079 vehicles were swollen, most of them motorcycles (185,454) and light cars (172,280). In the first eight months of 2025, the sector counts 3,229,726 units that are rise – a 6.6% increase over 2024. With this result, Fenabrave maintains estimates for the year, which are up 6.2% in the year.
With two business days less than July, August had a 5.9% drop in platings compared to the immediately preceding month. The daily average sales rose from 19,914 units in July to 20,527 in August.
The industry forecast is that there is 10% increase in motorcycle sales in 2025. On the other hand, there is an expectation of a 7% drop in truck placing. Light and utility cars are maintained by 5% sales expansion, and buses are expected to increase by 6%.
According to the federation, sales volume should no longer increase, especially for trucks, due to maintenance of high interest rates for credit, which also has an impact on car fleet renewal.
The exception is the good time of hybrid electric vehicles, with sales of 120 thousand units per year. For these vehicles, there was an increase of 85% of sales compared to August 2024. In accumulated of the year, 74.97% more units were sold in this category. Electrics are also growing, expecting to reach 45 thousand units per year in 2025, 10.11% more than in the year 2024.
The fall for the trucks reflects, for the entity, the deceleration of agribusiness. Nevertheless, there was a considerable increase in sales of tractors and harvesters, especially for the Midwest region. 19.2% were sold more than harvesters and 14.7% more tractors, when compared to 2025 and 2024, until August. Purchases are also related to the resources of the National Family Farming Strengthening Program (PRONAF).
