After Third National Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court resolved to free former president Martín Vizcarraafter declaring the application of five months of preventive detention submitted by the Prosecutor’s Office against him, the ex -president pronounced through his social networks, qualifying it as “A correction to an error that should never have committed”.
“For 21 days I was deprived of my freedom, facing an unjustified transfer and attacks on my dignity, which violated my rights and generated uncertainty about my personal integrity. This decision of the court corrects an error that should never be committed,” reads the statement.

The ex -president also stressed that throughout the investigations he has maintained impeccable conduct and that he has always collaborated with transparency and responsibility. In addition, he pointed out that this path will follow because “I do not fear either the truth or to justice.”
In his words, he also expressed his gratitude to citizens and their relatives: “I want to deeply thank all Peruvians and Peruvians for their signs of support and encouragement these days, as well as the love and unconditional support of my family and friends, who held me in the most difficult moments.”
Vizcarra also said that this decision reaffirms its conviction that the Political persecution will not be able to overcome the will of the people.

This Wednesday, the Third National Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court He decided to order the immediate release of former president Martín Vizcarraafter rejecting the prosecution’s request to extend its preventive detention.
The measure is linked to investigations for alleged passive bribery in cases known as ‘Lomas de Ilo’ and ‘Regional Hospital of Moquegua’, in which damage to the State is charged.

Judges Enriquez Sumernde, Magallanes Rodríguez and Javiel Valverde, responsible for the decision, partially hosted the appeal presented by the Biscar Defense against the resolution issued on August 13, 2025, which had ordered five months of preventive detention.
With this decision, the Chamber annulled this order and ordered the release of the ex -president and clarified that this will be effective “provided there is no other order of preventive detention in force issued by competent authority.”
