Mexico City. – The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado, successfully led the country’s participation in the tenth edition of the Ibtm Américas Fair, the most important Mice Tourism (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) in the region.
As explained by inaugurating the RD space next to the ambassador to Mexico City, Juan Bolívar Diaz, this initiative is part of the strategy of continuing to strengthen a solid presence in this market as well as strengthen commercial ties throughout Latin America and position the unique offer of the country.
Within the framework of the Fair, the Dominican delegation held an encounter with more than 1,600 industry allies, from Mexico and Latin America, in which the strategies and benefits of tourism in the country were presented, as well as the new campaign to promote tourism, entitled “Dominican smiles at you”, which shows the importance of the region as a strategic market for the Dominican Republic.
From January to July 2025, the country received 84,395 Mexican visitors, with a growth so far from the year of 26% compared to 2024, the year in which the record figure of 117,400 tourists were received.
The Dominican delegation was made up of 29 companies, including airlines, hotels, tour operators and DMCs, including: AreaT SA, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, W Punta Cana, Hotel Association of Santo Domingo, OTIUM INTERNATIONAL, ECT MICE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, BAVARO ADVENTUR Cana Resort, Caribbean Holiday Services SRL, Secret Tides Punta Cana, Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort, Mice Spots DMC, Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo and Bld Tours, among others.
With its presence in IBTM Américas, the Dominican Republic demonstrates its focus on diversification, placing itself as a future leader in the meeting industry, and taking firm steps and supporting what will be the new Convention Center of Santo Domingo and the new investments of hotel chains in infrastructure for MICE tourism, business tourism, combining innovation, culture and hospitality in each experience.
