A new case of violence in Colombian football has generated national indignation. The referee Vanessa Ceballos was the victim of a physical aggression by a player during a match of the first C, played at the Chelo Castro Stadium in Aracataca, Magdalena. According to the Regulation of the Colombian Football Federation, the sanctions to assault a referee may include suspension for several years or even definitive disqualification to compete in official tournaments. In addition, if the victim decides to initiate legal actions, the case could lead to criminal consequences, since the referees are considered authorities within the pitch.
