The Cuban ex -spy declared his premise to “demonstrate to Cubans” that CDRs are “a useful organization.”
Miami, United States. – On the eve of the 65th Anniversary of the Defense Committees of the Revolution (CDR), the national coordinator of the organization, the Cuban ex -spy Gerardo Hernández Nordeloconditioned the ideological coherence of the “fidelists” and “revolutionaries” to the activation of the committees in each block.
“We do not conceive of someone who is called a fidelist and living in a block where there is no CDR, where the CDR is not working and that allows it. No one who considers himself revolutionary can live in a block where the CDR does not work and does not assume the responsibility of putting it to work,” he said as part of an intervention disseminated by the Caribbean Channel.
The so -called Central of Hernández Nordelo went to the “strengthening” of the base structures, which presented as the “main” task of commemoration. “[El] called that we are doing to our membership is precisely to strengthen our structures in those places where there are difficulties, in tribute also also to the 100th anniversary of our commander, ”he said.
The television report framed the celebration as part of the “tribute of the Cuban transfer to the historical leader of the revolution for their centenary”, and stressed that the CDRs “reach their 65 years in a complex context for the country”, with the objective of “adapting its operation to the current situation, assuming new tasks while still being the organization that Fidel founded to defend the revolution from the Revolution and communities ”.
In his balance on the usefulness of the CDR, Hernández said that the organization “is in the neighborhood” and claimed its performance during the pandemic. “With the premise that we have to demonstrate to the Cubans that the CDRs are a useful organization, we are an organization that is in the neighborhood and that was demonstrated during the years of the Covidwhere as an organization we fulfill our role there in the places, in the communities, letting know who are the vulnerable people, who are the people who needed to be extended a hand, ”he said.
According to the Caribbean channel report, the national act for the 65th anniversary is scheduled for the 28th in front of the balcony of the Museum of the Revolution. In that ceremony will be recognized as outstanding provinces Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas and Matanzas, and as a Ciego de Ávila province. Among the activities announced are meetings with members of detachments “Looking at the sea” and recognitions to “outstanding” yields and groups.
State television added that the celebration “marks a milestone” for the CDRs to meet “100 tasks by the Centenary of Fidel”, with the “strengthening of their base structures” as an articulating axis. He also pointed out as a priority the incorporation of young people to management tasks within the organization.
Hernández Nordelo’s emphasis on the individual “responsibility” to guarantee the operability of the CDR in each block reinforces the official Cuban notion of mandatory militancy as a criterion of “fidelist” or “revolutionary.”
On the other hand, the Caribbean Channel report did not specify the concrete contents of the “new tasks” that the CDRs “will assume” or the operational detail of the announced “100 tasks by the Centenary of Fidel.” Nor were indicators explained to evaluate the “strengthening of base structures”, the planned resources, the deadlines or the mechanisms of neighborhood participation beyond the general so -called “assume responsibility.”
