Despite the pandemic and the “brutal” economic impact it has left on the country, the Ministry of Women is a project of the campaign of the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo that will not be affected and will continue its course.

This was announced this Tuesday, March 8, by the president, assuring that of the 125 actions contained in his government plan, 100 projects have been adjusted due to the pandemic, this due to the issue of economic resources; however, he said that within those 100 the Ministry of Women will remain.

She stressed that her decision to maintain this ministry is “because of the transversal impact that women have on the country’s development, not only socially but also economically. She said that the budget will not be increased but that initially the budget of the National Institute for Women (INAMU) will be used to start operating. For this 2022, the INAMU has a budget of 5 million balboas.

When the Ministry of Women is established, the INAMU will become part of it.
