In solemn session, the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) installed its plenary, to which it added to the two new magistrates, Gilberto de Guzmán Bátiz García and Claudia Valle Aguilasocho, who paid protest after winning their positions in the judicial electoral process.
With this, for the moment the Superior Chamber was completed again with its seven members, after since November 2023 it was only five. In that act they welcomed the 15 magistrates that will integrate the five regional rooms. The session went to the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
The Minister President, Hugo Aguilar, took a seat with the president of the TEPJF, Mónica Soto Fregoso, who stressed that by completing the integration of the Superior Chamber, “we reaffirm our conviction that the TEPJF will continue to be an authority at the height of the electoral justice that Mexico requires. We are aware that each electoral process, as I pointed out, represents us new challenges, in which we must act with the maximum efficiency and efficiency, also with serenity and responsibility. ”
After pointing out that it is a historical moment in the life of the TEPJF, Soto Fregoso added that the court “is prepared, as it has always done, to fulfill its duty. We now have a plenary composed of magistrates and magistrates who will continue to guarantee independent, impartial, inclusive and transparent decisions. Congratulations to those who today assume the position”.
During the session, which also attended as guests advisors of the National Electoral Institute, including the president of the Communical Body, Guadalupe Taddei, Judge Soto Fregoso explained that, with only five magistratures, “institutional solidity was defended and it was confirmed that this court is stronger than any difficulty.”
“Do not generate speculation”
However, the integration of this instance could be incomplete again because a possible departure next month of magistrate Janine Otálora, who has expressed on several occasions his intention to make that decision.
Asked about this, Soto Fregoso said in an interview that he has not received any notification in this regard, and when he pointed out that, “how is it going,” he called not to generate speculation.
In addition, he set the new objective: the 2027 elections, in which 1,773 positions will be chosen at the federal and state level, including 500 federal councils, 17 Gubernaturas, 680 municipal presidencies and 1,88 local councils, as well as the second part of the electoral judicial process, so he stressed that this court “never rests.”
