To the call of the first report of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and consummated the renewal of the Judiciary, the National Palace was the scene for the restoration of republican forms in official acts: again the representatives of the three powers of the Union met in a solemn ceremony.
Radiant Lucía Yesinbaum Pardo among dozens of attendees who attended their first report: businessmen, politicians, officials, ministers, academics and a contingent of representatives of indigenous peoples.
Among the dozens of guests highlighted Hugo Aguilar, the new president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, using an impeccable White Guayabera.
His presence in the National Palace testified to the beginning of a new stage in the Judiciary that, as the president defined in his speech, will mark the end of excesses in that court: it ends – he said – the era of nepotism, corruption and privileges and begins an era of legality and justice.
Thus, yesterday the departure between powers of the past two years was left behind, from that displacement of the then president of the Court, Norma Piña, in the Theater of the Republic, in Querétaro, in the bind of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in February 2023. That arrogance sealed a prominence of the former ministers for stopping everything that would be associated with obradorism.
On this occasion, Aguilar caught the attention of those who attended the Sheinbaum report. The president of the new court distributed hugs everywhere to businessmen, governors, politicians, legislators.
Always smiling, he arrived on foot to the National Palace, marking distance with all those who arrived in their vehicles with their escorts.
For his part, Sheinbaum was satisfied and smiling in his first government report. He launched greetings to all those present. It was the first occasion that gave account to the nation, in an event that made differences with the past archaic.
After sexennia of ruptures even among the PRI or Panistas co -religionists of ancient regimes, the president, on the contrary, patented her recognition to her predecessor: Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Without the political meanness that ruled in the old sexenios, he claimed the continuity of the movement, underlining the main achievement of the fourth transformation: the reduction of poverty. Sheinbaum did not bargain in recognition and launched: “We give continuity and advanced supported by the great feat of President López Obrador (…) with a new social justice project, he took more than 13.5 million people out of poverty.”
In parallel, the screens showed images of the founder of the movement at the stellar moments of his sexennium: Andrés Manuel López Obrador giving the cry of independence, touring the public squares to share with the town, distributing hugs to those who connected it.
These images followed other of their triumph moments in the presidential election of 2024 and other scenes of their first months at the head of the country. It was a long speech in which he emphasized his arrival in the presidency as a symbol of the growing female presence in public life that allowed “breaking barriers that, for centuries, seemed impossible to tear down.”
He spoke to 300 attendees in the patio of honor. Access to media representatives was not allowed. In the first rows, Secretaries of State, Governors and the representatives of the Legislative and Judicial Powers, including most of the new ministers of the Court. Further back, relegated to the fourth row, the coordinators of Morena in San Lázaro, Ricardo Monreal and the Senate, Adam Augusto López.
Without overcoming the controversy since it was known that he appointed the current fugitive of Justice Hernán Bermúdez as his secretary of public security when he ruled Tabasco, the senator arrived just a few minutes before the start of the report.
Who did attend the appointment punctual, was the secretary of Organization of Morena, Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, as part of the dome of that party.
Members of the business sector also attended, among which some of the country’s main magnates, Carlos Slim, of Grupo Carso; Germán Larrea, from Grupo México, and Daniel Chávez, from Grupo Vidanta, who shared space with Altagracia Gómez, head of the Sheinbaum Business Advisory Council.
All of them witnessed the presidential claim of the new country project that Sheinbaum launched: “The most ambitious social plan in the history of Mexico,” the president was governing to sign her speech, “we are going well and we will go better.”
