Santo Domingo.-The being included in the list of international terrorist organizations is not a simple qualifier.
The designation entails a set of economic sanctions, diplomatic and legal restrictions that impact both the group members and those who are linked to them, in case of being identified by the Dominican authorities.
This is why the Executive Power yesterday appointed as a terrorist organization to the armed poster of Los Soles of Venezuela, instructing the intelligence and security agencies of the State to adopt the necessary measures to prevent incursions of said network into national territory or against Dominican interests abroad.
The designation is contained in Decree 500-25, issued on September 2 of this year.
Among the implications backed by Law No. 267-08 on terrorism, which creates the National Anti-Terrorist Committee and the National Anti-Terrorist Directorate, as well as by Law 155-17 on money laundering and financing of terrorism, the Criminal Procedure Code and various international agreements, includes the freezing of assets, the prohibition of making financial transactions, the criminal prosecution in third countries in third countries. fence in international cooperation.
In this context, the inclusion of the Los Soles poster on this list has aroused special attention. It is an alleged criminal network composed of high controls of the Armed Forces of Venezuela, who are attributed participation in drug trafficking to the United States and Europe, as well as links with armed groups in the region.
His name comes from the badges with gold soles that the Venezuelan generals carry in their uniforms, which has reinforced the perception of institutional complicity. This decision of the Dominican government comes at a time when diplomatic relations with Venezuela remain frozen.
