The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubiothe afternoon of this Tuesday arrived in Mexico to start a work visit, within the framework of the bilateral agenda in terms of security, migration and economic cooperation.
At 6:27 p.m. (local time), Rubio descended from the aircraft that landed at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), accompanied by a delegation of officials of the US State Department. In the air terminal it was received by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente.
The head of the North America of the Foreign Ministry, Roberto Velasco, and the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson were also present at the reception.
According to the official agenda, on Wednesday, September 3, President Claudia Sheinbaum, together with members of the Security Cabinet and the Foreign Minister, will receive Rubio in the National Palace.
By highlighting the working meeting with the Mexican president, in her X account, the SRE reiterated that: “Our bilateral relationship is based on the principles of shared responsibility, mutual trust, respect for sovereignty and territoriality, and cooperation without subordination.”

Around 11:45 on September 3, Rubio and La Fuente are expected to offer a press conference at the SRE headquarters.
The US Secretary of State travels to Mexico and subsequently to Ecuador with the purpose of promoting priorities of the foreign policy of his country, such as the dismantling of cartels, the fight against the traffic of fentanil, the control of irregular migration and the promotion of economic prosperity, in line with the America First strategy of the president of the United States.
