The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock reported on Tuesday (2) to have completed tariff negotiation with the Japan government to export fat, swine and cattle fat products.
These products are used in the manufacture of animal feed and “pet food”. According to the Ministry, the authorization “expands the Brazilian presence in one of the most demanding markets in the world”.
Brazil is already one of the largest suppliers of soy and corn to the Japanese market.
With 125 million inhabitants, Japan is the third largest economy in the world and the 7th destination of Brazilian agricultural products in 2024. Exports to the Japanese totaled US $ 3.3 billion last year. From January to July 2025, sales have already totaled $ 1.8 billion.
In total, 422 new markets were opened for Brazilian agricultural products in the current government.
