The countries of America have a key advantage to compete in the global market when their products and services have internationally recognized accreditations. This was highlighted by the Inter -American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC)organism that brings together 67 entities from 32 countries in the region, including the Dominican Republic.
The president of the IAAC, Andrea Melo He explained that the mission of this cooperation is to ensure that the certifications issued by accredited agencies in each nation are recognized and approved in all member countries. This means that a certified product or service in the Dominican Republic under the standards of the Dominican Accreditation Agency (ODAC) is valid in 31 countries, eliminating technical barriers and reinforcing confidence in its quality.

“When we work under the same technical language, based on international standards, countries can compete better and access new markets,” he said during the First Business Meeting of Conformity Evaluation, Accreditation, Industry and Government, held within the framework of the 34th General Assembly of the IAAC in Santo Domingo.
The event, headed by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Victor Bishonóand the executive director of the Dominican Accreditation Organization (ODAC), Angel David Taveras Difodemonstrated that accreditation not only guarantees international standards, but also strengthens consumers’ confidence and contributes to the sustainable economic growth of companies.
The program included exhibitions of national and international experts on circular economy, sustainable business models and innovative strategies among others.
