The parties União Brasil and Progressives, who together form the Progressive Union Federation, with more than 100 parliamentarians in the National Congress, announced on Tuesday (2) that “holders of mandate” affiliated with subtitles must resign to any position occupied in the federal government. The measure formalizes the landing of the support base of the government of the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
“In case of non -compliance with this determination, if managers of this federation in its states, there will be the removal in a continuous act. If the permanence persists, the disciplinary punishments provided for in the statute will be adopted,” the statement says.
The note was read by the president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, alongside the national president of the PP, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), in a statement in the House of Representatives. Earlier, the two party leaders had already agreed the details of this break in a meeting with allies.
“This decision represents a gesture of clarity and consistency. This is what the Brazilian people and voters demand from their representatives,” the statement adds.
The measure should impact the permanence of the Ministers of Tourism, Celso Sabino (União-PA), and Sport, André Fufuca (PP-MA). Both are federal deputies, that is, holders of mandates affiliated with the federation parties.

To date, there has been no manifestation of the two ministers most directly impacted by the Union Progressive Union Federation. In addition, União Brasil, through Senate President David Alcolumbre (AP), has indications in two other folders: Waldez Góes (regional development) and Frederico de Siqueira (communications).
The PP also occupies the command of Caixa Econômica Federal, with Carlos Vieira, appointed by former mayor Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

In a note posted on social networks, the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, responsible for the political articulation of the federal government, says respecting the federation’s decision, but charged a commitment of those who hold in their positions.
“We respect the decision of the UP Federation Directorate. No one is required to be in government. We are not asking anyone to leave either. But those who remain should be committed to President Lula and the main guidelines that this government defends, such as tax justice, democracy and the rule of law, our sovereignty.
