The special team coordinator Jato, the prosecutor Rafael Velahe lashed out on Monday against the Supreme Prosecutor Tomás Gálvezwho assured that the tax team has “covered” Odebrecht and “has been committing crimes.”
The statements of the Supreme Prosecutor generated the immediate response of Rafael Vela, who described him as a “deceased.”
The prosecutor recalled that he was not only denounced by Tomás Gálvez, but also questioned the entire Lava Jato case, which motivated an investigation that extended for more than two years.
“Gálvez’s behavior is not isolated; he responds to political interests because he seeks to implio the institution,” he said.
Vela warned that the reincorporation of Gálvez and Patricia Benavides as Supreme Prosecutors has generated division in the Public Ministry, because “he said,” they do not return with a constructive spirit. “
He also criticized the lack of impartiality of the Congress Commission that investigates the collaboration agreement with Odebrecht, noting that the parties of several of its members are also under investigation for the same case.
Asked about whether there is a political intention to harm the Lava Jato case, he said that “within the interests of the policy, the case has become a campaign platform.”
He also questioned the Constitutional Court, which he accused of “impairing judicial independence” when he intervenes in these processes.
“It seeks to obtain in the TC what is not achieved in ordinary justice,” he concluded.
