“As soon as the judicial administration body is constituted, the Supreme Court will request that it implement the necessary measures so that all the judges elected in the last electoral process we win less than the president of the Republic, in accordance with the provisions of article 127 of the General Constitution, third fraction,” said Aguilar who estimates that this will generate a savings of up to even 300 million pesos.
In his first message, Aguilar announced a Austerity plan greater that will mean in total, 1,100 million pesos annually.
In addition to this measure, the president of the Court said that by agreement of all ministers, there will also be a reduction of benefits to all members of the Judiciary, such as the elimination of major medical expenses and retirement assets.
“We will all submit to the medical services of the ISSSTE and firmly fight corruption,” he said.
Aguilar said that once it is reviewed that no one wins more than the president of Mexico, those of judgments and amparos will also be analyzed against this measure that have prevented officials from lowering their salaries.
The president of the Supreme Court said that there will be a review of the pension of the retirement ministers, who currently said they perceive between 205,000 and 385,000 pesos per month.
“We will request that other supports be eliminated that generate excessive expenses to the authorized budget of the Supreme Court and promote the elimination of administrative excesses and expenses,” he said.
The Minister President assured that this austerity plan will be one of the priorities for this new stage of the institution. “Justice cannot have privilege,” he said.
“Austerity does not mean precariousness”
Hugo Aguilar Ortiz guaranteed that the austerity plan seeks to make resources management more efficient, the elimination of sumptuous expenses and privileges, since many people in the country cannot have access to such benefits.
He added that the proposed budget cut should not affect the work that judges, magistrates and ministers perform, as well as the personnel of the different areas throughout the country. Nor, he said, it will be a factor for the integrity of the Judiciary to be affected.
“Austerity will not imply cutting the quality of justice or condemning the courts to precariousness, austerity means eradicating the dispensed, undue privileges and nepotism,” he said.
