FP asks Emergency Electric Sector

FP pide poner sector eléctrico emergencia

The Force of the People reported yesterday that the country is going through an “unprecedented collapse” in the energy service, with blackouts between six and 10 hours a day, which “keeps the population in a desperate situation.”

He proposed to declare the electricity sector in emergency and execute a comprehensive solution plan that includes an intensive program for the reduction of technical and non -technical losses, which currently exceed 40 %, when in 2019 they were around 30 %, among other measures.

Juan Gómez, Secretary of Energy of the opposition and former electricity organization of electricity, said that, despite the power cuts, the invoices arrive “very high”, which described as an abuse against the population.

“Instead of reflecting a decrease in consumption, it is charged even for the hours without service, while the quality of the electric fluid that arrives is poor, damaging appliances and equipment,” he added.

At a press conference at the Johnny Ventura town house, Gomez said that it is unacceptable that the Dominicans continue to face prolonged service interruptions, as long as the promise of guaranteeing this year a cold reserve of 700 megawatts has not been fulfilled.

“The blackouts are affecting filled, housewives, beauty salons and workshops. The country does not endure this indolence,” Gomez said.
