In the first ordinary session of the second legislative year that began on September 1, the Congress of Mexico City chose with 62 votes in favor of Jesús Sesma, coordinator of the Green Party bench, to conduct legislative works until August 31, 2026.
Prior to this new commission, Sesma was the president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo), between September 2024 and August 2025.
In his first message as president of the Board of Directors, Sesma Suarez promised to conduct legislative works with order, legality and impartiality.
“The confrontations and disqualifications that divide us and also the practices that go against the efficiency of the congress, such as the interruption of the sessions, the loss of course in the debates and the vices in the procedures that open the door to challenges,” he said.
In addition, he announced that he will have two main work axes: Congress opening to society and the strengthening of legislative work with the participation of experts, academics and researchers to enrich initiatives, reforms and laws.
In the same session, the Plenary of the capital congress chose the other members of the Board of Directors: Yuriri Ayala, of Morena, as the first vice president; Olivia de la Garzaof the PAN, as second vice president; The petist Diana Barragán as third vice president and the morenista VARELA VARELA as fourth vice president. The General Secretariat was in charge of the deputy Cecilia Vadillo.
For the Political Coordination Board, internal body of the local legislature in charge of generating, analyzing and presenting before the Congress Board of Directors the agreements reached among all parliamentary coordinators, was elected Andrés Ataydeas part of the agreements reached and by order of political forces.
The first year corresponded to the Green Party – which occupies the third political force – to preside over the presidency of the Jucopo, for the second year it corresponds to the PAN and for the third year to Morena.
