Constitution Commission of the Congress analyzes salary to deputies and senators to S/34 thousand

The Constitution Commission of the Congress, headed by Congressman Arturo Alegría, of Popular Force (FP), analyzes a predict of the resolution of regulations that seeks to increase the salary of future members who will exercise as deputies and senators.

This initiative seeks that future 130 deputies and 60 senators receive remuneration equivalent to that of a Supreme Supreme Judge, a figure that amounts to 34,090 soles per month.

As is known, a congressman currently receives a remuneration of 15,600 soles per month, so the initiative would significantly increase state spending.

In this regard, Congressman Fernando Rappigliosi (FP) was in favor of this salary increase and I justify it by arguing that congressmen are at the same level as high -ranking magistrates.

“It is not simply raising, but the possibility of matching salaries with other state officials is being considered,” said RPP.

Not everyone agrees

However, Congressman Alejandro Muñante, of popular renewal (RP), was blunt and assured that his bench will not support any salary increase.

“We, as a renewal, are not going to support any type of salary increase in congressmen. We are supposed to represent citizens and we have to ensure their interests first,” he said.
