“We are completing the Emergency Credit Program for help from companies that have been impacted,” he said, adding:

“Soon we will get very strong in supporting companies.”

The supply is part of the Brazil Sovereign Plan, which provides for a set of measures to rescue companies imposed by the United States rates on Brazilian exports, that can reach 50%.

The Support Plan provides R $ 30 billion in credit that will be offered by the export guarantee fund. The credit will be offered by BNDES and qualified financial institutions.

THE plan was announced by the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the 13th. According to Mercadante, the government is making the final adjustments to the official announcement of the credit lines.

“I think we are already with the process very mature to be announced. There are little details left,” he says.

The purpose of the plan, explains Mercadante, is to maintain the employment level and help companies exceed this adversity. According to him, the BNDES should operate with the model of the rescue provided to Rio Grande do Sul, when it was strongly impacted by rainfall and historical floods, in 2024.

“As soon as President Lula beats the hammer of what it will be like, BNDES is ready to accelerate and do it faster, more efficiently, as we have done in Rio Grande do Sul. I want to remember that in Rio Grande do Sul, in the direct credit of BNDES, we have increased the speed of approval six times,” he says.
