It was established that orphans of gender violence receive part of the compensation immediately after the crime and the rest after the sentence.
President Guillermo Lasso modified, through Executive Decree 563, the Bonus for children and adolescents who remain orphaned due to the violent death of their mother.
This financial support will be delivered in two parts: a provisional bonus from the moment of the preliminary investigation of the violent deathand the ultimate bonus after the executed sentence. Before, with the first Decree that created this bond, signed by former President Lenín Moreno, the money began to be delivered from the accusatory sentence.
According to the Chief Executive, there are 593 orphans who live in mourning and the pain of the loss of their mother in violent conditions and who would already become the beneficiaries of this aid. They are currently receiving 121 boys.
So far in 2022, 28 femicides have already been countedof which 9 victims were mothers who left 19 minors in the orphanage.
For Minister Bernarda Ordoñez, this type of violent deaths “these are 100% preventable crimes when we work with all ministries and civil society.” (GVL)
