The afternoon of the last Thursday, the alarms were lit at the Alejandro Velasco Astete de Cusco airport, where a bomb threat activated the emergency protocols, causing agents of the Explosive Deactivation Unit and other divisions to reach the air terminal.
The incident was recorded at approximately 2:00 p.m., when the Cabina staff of the La2025 Cusco – Lima flight, activated the Explosives Protocol in its ship, giving account to the Head of Security of the Airline Latam, who in turn gave notice to the authorities of order.

Thus, agents specializing in the deactivation of bombs reached the aforementioned airport, ordering the transfer of the aircraft to a security wing adjacent to the track for the complementary review. For this, passengers had already been put to a good collection.
“After the corresponding review and verification in cabin and warehouse, the specialist agents determined that there was no real threat, but all protocols were carried out as appropriate, the agents are ready and prepared to attend this type of contingencies at any time,” said General PNP Julio Becerra, head of the Cusco police region.
Inquiry
The police chief also mentioned that it was a child passenger, who gave the verbal bomb warning, so the police investigate their actions and that of their parents, since their communication could have given way to an episode of despair or accidents among the other passengers.
“He is a three -year -old boy, his parents don’t know exactly what happened, everything is under investigation, we already comply with ruling out the presence of some explosive artifact at the site, now the airport authorities will see if the plane leaves or if the passengers address another,” he said.
After the fact, from the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation – Corpac, they issued a statement, qualifying the fact of a ‘false alarm’, reiterating that the other operations are carried out normally in the first air terminal in Cusco.
“We urge parents to guide their minor children to avoid situations that generate alarm and compromise air security,” the statement appoints.
