Inpe Chief is confused by explaining the reason why Martín Vizcarra cannot remain in Barbadillo

He Barbadillo penalty He is popularly known as the “prison of the former presidents of Peru.” What began as a temporary detention center for Alberto Fujimori after his extradition of Chile, ended up hosting not only the ex -dictator, but also to Pedro Castillo, Alejandro Toledo, Ollanta Humala and until this September 21 to Martín Vizcarra.

The former president arrived in Barbadillo after the Judiciary ordered that he meets five months of preventive detention for the Lomas de Ilo and Moquegua hospital, however, he will be transferred to another penitentiary center, which opened the public debate. The head of the INPE, Iván Paredes, explained the reasons before the press, but these were not concrete. Indicated that the status of former president is not decisive for Vizcarra has been referred to Barbadillo And it was excited with alleged errors in the classification board responsible for choosing the penitentiary center.

“The Classification Board did not take into account the resolution of the Presidency, which is the directive on which it is based on how the defendants and those sentenced should be classified. So, the only thing he said was: ‘Well, you are president of the Republic, you are going to Barbadillo.’

In addition, he said that according to the Directorial Resolution, the defendants are previously classified before going to a prison. In this classification, Vizcarra obtained 10. “At the score, there are three types in the ordinary closed regime: if it is 4 to 7, it goes to Ancón II; if it is from 8 to 11, to Lurigancho; and if it is from 12 to 13, to Castro Castro,” he noted.

In that sense, he said that Vizcarra must go to Lurigancho. “Those who go, for example, to Lurigancho, his score is ten. Then, you have to have score ten, and he (Martín Vizcarra) had score ten. (…) I am not saying that he has to go to this or that place, but to base, as I said before, you have to put it in the minutes,” he said.

Political revenge?

However, this would not be the exact reason. According to the norm, the Barbadillo penalty This is intended for former presidents chosen by popular vote. Such is not the case of Vizcarra Cornejo, who came to office after the presidential vacancy. In addition, from this, the ex -president’s defense maintains that it could be a retaliation against its client, above all, because it is a presidential pre -plaster that at the end of the next elections.

When questioned for this, Paredes indicated that the decision will be made by the Board within 48 hours and did not rule out that Vizcarra remains in Barbadillo. In addition, he denied any kind of influence.

“Let it be clear. Neither the president, nor a public, nor private institution, has gotten into. There is no interference in this. I repeat again, the classification board is autonomous. Then, they will decide if you are going to Barbadillo, it is in Barbadillo or goes to another penalty. They will already decide because they are the authorities,” he said.
