The District Administration of Bogotá announced a new approach to The guaranteed minimum income program (IMG) that places education in the center of the economic support policy with the aim of reducing the gaps of inequality and strengthening equal opportunities. What is this modification that will be perceived in this subsidy?
The Secretariat of Integration of the Colombian capital reported that monetary transfers will be subject to co -responsibilities, in order to move towards an integral model that combines immediate economic relief with investments in human capital in the long term.
Through this axis change in the initiative, The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá will benefit 255,000 girls, boys and adolescents through an investment of $ 12.9 billion.

Conditional Transfers: How do they work and who are the beneficiaries
The new guaranteed minimum income scheme It is organized in two components: Early childhood, that covers 46,000 girls and boys from 0 to 6 years of groups A, B and C1 – C9 of the Sisbén and residents of paying; and Education, which benefits 209,000 girls, boys and adolescents between 7 and 19 years of groups A and B of the Sisbén, as well as residents of paying.
Transfers values vary between $ 40,000 and $ 100,000 for each minor, depending on three factors:
• Household poverty level (the poorest receive more).
• Educational level reached (The upper degrees receive a larger amount).
• Special conditions, such as disability or having been the victim of the armed conflict.
The maximum amount per household is $ 300,000 per component per month, while transfers are verified monthly according to the assistance of minors to social integration gardens, official colleges or growing centers.
In addition, the program contemplates differentiated transfers for families victims of armed conflict, recognizing the additional barriers they face to stabilize in the city. This measure seeks to contribute to repair, guarantee continuous educational trajectories and generate a sense of roots in Bogotá.
