Giménez: “The PCCs are not saved from the collapse of the Venezuelan regime”

The statement comes in the midst of an increase in US pressure on criminal networks and on the regime of Nicolás Maduro.

Miami, United States. – Congressman Carlos Giménez recalled in x that “the dictatorship in Cuba not only is designated as sponsor[a] of terrorism (…) But also as a country that actively participates and collaborates with international terrorist organizations. ”He immediately added that“ those of the PCC are not saved from this collapse of the Venezuelan regime ”.

The statement comes in the midst of an increase in US pressure on criminal networks and on the regime of Nicolás Maduro. According to a report on Monday of Reutersthree aegis destroyers –USS Serly, USS Jason Dunham and USS Sampson– They will be deployed near the Venezuelan coast to face “threats” from drug cartels in Latin America. According to the forecasts, the ships would arrive this Wednesday to develop an operation that would extend several months and include around 4,000 sailors and marine infants, P-8 aircraft, other ships and at least one attack submarine.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said this week that the United States is willing to use “all the elements of its power” to stop drug flow and “take those responsible to justice.”

From Caracas, Nicolás Maduro replied that the country will “defend” its seas, skies and lands, and described the stage as “the crazy, quirky threat of an empire in decline.” The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry said that Washington’s actions reflect their “lack of credibility” and “put the peace and stability of the entire region at risk, including the peace zone declared by the CELAC.”

In parallel, the US administration has reinforced its framework against figures and organizations linked to transnational crime. The State Department raised to 50 million dollars the reward for information that leads to the arrest or condemnation of Maduro, who accuses of leading the “poster of the suns.” “Nicolás Maduro has been, for more than a decade, leader of the Los Soles Cartel, responsible for drug trafficking to the United States,” said Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, in an official statement.

“Maduro’s regime in Venezuela is not a legitimate government; it is a criminal company,” said the Secretary of State. He also said: “We cannot continue treating these people as local gangs” and stressed that “we have to start treating them as armed terrorist organizations, not simply as drug trafficking networks.” For the official, “it is no longer simply a drug issue. It is terrorism what they are doing, and it is not the only thing.”

The naval deployment is framed in recent measures of Washington: designations of terrorist organizations to several Latin American cartels and a directive signed in early August that authorizes the Pentagon to use the military force against cartels declared terrorists. The operational plan plans to act in international waters and airspace for months.
