Monterrey, NL. Andrés Garza Herrera, current vice president of the Qualty Advisory Council, was appointed Executive President of the Nuevo León Council during its 14th ordinary session. In its management, it will seek to make the agency an evidence -based innovation engine for public decision making, strengthen the operational team and link the expertise of the commissioners in the attention of complex public problems.
Between 2023-2025 he was president of the Economic Development Commissionin the Nuevo León Council, where he worked with the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León to advance projects on the economic impact of investment in the State, the productive chain of SMEs, productivity and competitiveness.
Instead, Fernando Mendizábal, general director of butter and ingredients SA, of CV, was appointed as president of the Economic Development Commission of the Nuevo León Council.
The previous presidents
Garza Herrera will hold the position that Jesús Viejo González held in the 2022-2025 period, after happening to Eduardo Garza T. Fernández (2019-2022) and Carlos Salazar Lomelín (2014-2019).
“Thanks to the presidents, commissioners and council team. Being in this agency is work, time and effort dedicated to a very noble cause. Recognize their citizen vocation, and my entrustment is that it remains useful and that it is the best space to contribute to Nuevo León,” Garza said.
The Nuevo León Council has the bases placed
For his part, the governor, Samuel García Sepúlveda, expressed his enthusiasm about the management that Garza Herrera will carry out and reaffirmed his commitment to work hand in hand with the Nuevo León Council.
“I am very happy and very grateful. On behalf of the State I dare to say: Nuevo León Council, thank you very much. They have been of great help. Andrés, you have with us; we are sure that the bases are already put and arrive at the best moment,” said the president.
Who is Andrés Garza Herrera?
The new executive president of the Nuevo León Council is a mechanical engineer for the Tec de Monterrey. He has a Master in Business Administration at the University of San Diego and a participation in Global IMD leadership in Lausana, Switzerland. He is currently vice president of the Qualtia Advisory Council. He was director of this company and the Xignux food division from 2010 to 2023.
Garza was president of Caintra Nuevo León and Switfish (2014-2018) and Movisa from 2016 to 2018. He is president of the City of Children in Monterrey, a philanthropic school for more than 1,200 students, among other positions.
