The rapper and political prisoner faces a new process after being transferred to kilo 8, amid complaints about the deterioration of his health.

Madrid, Spain.- The Cuban regime has opened a new criminal process against rapper and political prisoner Maykel Castillo Pérez, known as Maykel Osorbo, who was recently transferred to the prison of kilo 8, in Camagüey, according to activist Anamely Ramos and confirmed the official website of the artist on social networks.

“Today they called the prison to say that Maykel had been transferred to kilo 8 because they want to process it for some positions we still do not know,” Ramos published on your Facebook profile.

The activist warned about the emotional deterioration of the artist, imprisoned since 2021 and sentenced to nine years in prison for crimes manufactured after the protests of the San Isidro movement and the song “Homeland and life”, which became a hymn of opposition to the regime.

“He is ready to die, and it is not now, it is since you put him a prisoner being a child and condemned him to be anyone. Maykel prefers death to return there,” Ramos wrote.

The message also responsible for the security of the State and those who try to discredit activism around Osorbo.

In June, Maykel Osorbo held a hunger strike that put his life at risk, which led Amnesty International to demand guarantees about his physical and mental integrity.

With this new process, the regime reinforces the pressure on one of the most visible voices of Cuban cultural activism. The opacity around the positions and transfer of prison aggravate concerns about their health and respect for their fundamental rights.
