At the time of the deadline for strike site, the Volkswagen company of Mexico reached yesterday with the Independent Union of Workers of the Volkswagen Automotive Industry a global increase in 6.16 percent salary; The original request was 14 percent.
After hours of negotiations in Mexico City, the company reported in a statement that this direct rise to the salary protects the purchasing power of the workers, being located above inflation. “This reaffirms the commitment of the company to ensure the well -being of families that depend on this source of employment,” he added.
In the message, Ricardo Guerrero, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Organization, commented: “We are convinced that open dialogue and mutual respect are fundamental pillars to build agreements that benefit all parties. This result reflects our commitment to a business strategy focused on people and their well -being.”
Later, the union explained that the global increase of 6.16 percent is composed of increases of 4 percent to the salary, one percent to the savings fund, 0.2 percent to the recognition of specialized works and 0.96 percent to a bonus, equivalent to 3 thousand pesos.
The demand originally raised by the workers was of a global increase of 14 percent. This agreement conjured the strike in the German shipowner, which was scheduled at 11 am, which would have affected the operations in Puebla.
Last year the union obtained an increase of 10.59 percent global to the salary in the contractual review, while in 2023 it was 8.6 percent in a salary review.
The company highlighted in its message that the result is the result of a series of meetings between the review commissions of both parties, where a detailed analysis of the current environment was made.
