The National Police said Tuesday that Olfran Domingo Rivas Ramos, aka ‘Pancho’ and Venezuelan nationality, was arrested in Chile by local authorities. The subject is investigated for his alleged involvement in the murder of journalist Gastón Medina, which occurred on January 20 of this year.
According to the PNP, the capture of Rivas Ramos occurred the night before during a routine inspection in the commune of Maipú, in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, after being found with drug possession.
During the proceedings, the detainee declared to be a member of the criminal organization ‘Los Pirates de Aragua’ and admitted to being sought for the crime of homicide of Gastón Medina.
Peruvian authorities have been coordinating with their Chilean peers the transfer of the detainee to Peru.
