This Tuesday, March 8, the National Health Superintendency took possession of the EPS Medimás, the health provider that replaced Saludcoop and, later, Cafesalud.

The EPS Measures stops operating in 232 municipalities of 14 departments of the country where it had 1.5 million affiliates.
“With this EPS we exhaust all the measures tending to achieve the protection of the
health system, but we could not allow its breaches to continue
impacting on the deterioration of the health conditions of its 1.5 million
affiliated”, said the National Superintendent of Health, Fabio Aristizábal Ángel.

The liquidation was ordered because the EPS did not heed the orders given by Supersalud. According to the entity, Medimás did not comply with the payment of the obligations with its network of providers, there was no improvement in its financial indicators and the rate of petitions, complaints, claims and reports (PQRD) increased considerably.
The Superintendency of Health had been monitoring Medimás’ movements for four and a half years, during which time it became the EPS most fined in Colombia and recorded the greatest loss of users.
In fact, Supersalud reported that, according to the audit carried out in February 2022, between January and November of last year, Medimás received 57,653 PQRD from its affiliates and 6,489 guardianships for health.
