The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab highlighted the preventive work carried out by the Public Ministry to combat the scourge of trafficking in persons, whose victims are mostly sexually exploited women and adolescents.
During the closing of the commemorative event of World Trafficking Day, at the headquarters of the Public Ministry, prosecutor Saab explained that this criminal type has several biases of multiple associated crimes such as torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment to the murder.
Likewise, he called on citizens to denounce before the Public Ministry any fact related to this crime, since the institution is guarantor of legality in the country “opens its doors for this, all the superior prosecutors, general and line directions so that this scourge is eradicated,” added the Attorney General of the Republic.
Saab stressed that the sanction in the country for those who carry out this practice corresponds to the maximum penalty, although thanks to prevention and fights its decrease it is remarkable, which is why “those who want to take Venezuela as a referential point, know that they will be severely punished”.
The Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, and the Comptroller General of the Republic, Gustavo Vizcaíno Gil also participated in the day; who pointed out that human trafficking is a serious crime that violates human rights and personal integrity.
In this sense, the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruíz, stated that “it is important that each person, especially adolescents, do not fall into that miraculous offers trap to become millionaires in a short time.”
For its part, the Biscay Comptroller Gil, highlighted the preventive work carried out by the different institutions of the State to eradicate this scourge, whose victims are scammed with counterfeit identity documents.
The members of Citizen Power invited the population to be attentive to any suspicion about human trafficking and go to the Ombudsman, the Public Ministry, auxiliary investigation agencies and the organized communities to avoid falling into situations of slavery and crimes that would harm individual persons and their family nuclei.
