Latin American leaders and authorities react to the US military deployment in the Caribbean Sea waters and advocate respect for the sovereignty of the peoples.
In front of the military operation that has deployed USA in the south of the Caribbean Sea to allegedly combat drug trafficking, and in the face of accusations and threats against the first Venezuelan president; Presidents and senior officials in the region have demonstrated against the flagrant interventionism of Washington in South America.
The American spokesperson has said that it will deploy all the necessary force and with attack capacity, on the coasts close to Venezuela, including warships, spy airplanes and the mobilization of at least 4,000 troops, according to international agencies.
In this regard, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, said that: “No empire will come to play sacred soil of Venezuela, nor should it touch sacred soil of South America (…) Our seas, our skies and our lands, we defend them, we release them, we monitor them, and patrol them,” he added.
In addition, he announced the deployment of 4,500,000 militiamen throughout the country to defend the sovereignty of Venezuela; among other territorial security measures.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry has issued a statement where it affirms that “observes with total clarity the despair of the US administration” that makes “threats and defamations” against the South American country.
“That Washington accuses Venezuela of drug trafficking reveals its lack of credibility and the failure of its policies in the region,” says the writing.
Danger for regional peace
The reactions do not come only from Venezuela, but also from other leaders, authorities and organizations; that criticize the measures of the US administration, which according to assertions such as President Gustavo Petro, to be completed, could deeply affect the peace of peoples.
The Colombian president also added that sectors of the extreme right of Colombia, Venezuela and the US “press” so that “this violent adventure occurs, which would not only bother Maduro, but would leave an open wound in Latin America.”
Likewise, the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, condemned such actions: “No to interventionism, that is not only conviction, but is in the Constitution,” she said, when consulted in a press conference.
Sheinbaum took the opportunity to read the Mexican Constitution to demonstrate that the defense of the sovereignty of the peoples and the promotion of the peaceful solution of controversies is one of its obligations as president, “everything is resolved with dialogue,” he said.
For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez denounced in his networks the “presence of US military, naval and aerial forces in southern the Caribbean (…) Latin America and the Caribbean must be respected as a peace zone,” he urged.

The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, also expressed his support for the Government of Venezuela, in a letter: «We are the same race; the same blood; We are our Americans and Caribbean, always beyond, defending the great homeland, our homelands, and no improper, no occurrence, dementia or empire, bends because we neither sell ourselves, nor do we give up, ever »; He highlighted the message of the Sandinista government.
Similarly, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), has strongly condemned the “interventionist plans” and the “interference actions” of the United States government in the region. They have called countries and governments alert to what they consider a “policy of aggression.”
In Venezuela, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), has ratified its “loyalty and unrestricted support to President Nicolás Maduro, and has declared” on a permanent alert to face, combat and neutralize any action that threatens the stability and peace of citizens, as well as the safeguarding of the territory. “
