Alonso Romero: Democrats, Republicans and the US energy domain plan

AND

l July 29, 2025 United States Department of Energy (EU) published a report entitled A critical reviewof the impacts of greenhouse gas emissions in the US climate (https://bit.ly/3hfkkxx), in which there is a series of arguments that seek to change the narrative about climate change (CC) and its consequences in humanity.

The greatest conclusion of the report is that although the CC exists, it is not the main problem that humanity has. The way in which the report is written is intended to generate doubt about the effects of CO2 and its validity as a pollutant, and proposes that from the beginning of industrial activity the world has suffered an important “revergence” as a result of greater “food for plants”. It also argues that the use of fossil fuels has allowed the flowering of humans and has improved the level and quality of life.

The report is given in a context where the US has reversed, or is in the process of doing so, a series of environmental policies that were considered central in their “struggles against climate change”, as well as in global policies that various organizations (NGOs) exported to many countries of the world. One of the most relevant policies is the so -called Endangement Finding, which is the basis through which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates CO2 emissions in the air, finding a direct cause between such emissions and the deterioration of public health and well -being. On July 29, the EPA presented its project to reverse these policies.

This position is no surprise: the US Secretary of Energy, recently called on climate change a byproduct of progress, not an existential crisis, and although in the discourse, it might seem a total break with the policies of the Democrats, the reality is that they are the continuation of the American imperialist project, which is based on the energy domain, which consists of simultaneously destroying the energy base of the countries and consolidating EU. It is no accident that the great oil companies that tried to leave their main business and travel to the flashing were all European, which caused severe losses and put them in a disadvantage situation before the US oil companies, which now control the large deposits in Latin America (Guyana, Argentina) and are the only ones that can be marketing with Venezuela (nation with the largest reserves of the world).

Contrary to the image that the Democrats have projected (supported by the propaganda apparatus of NGOs and “independent” media that were mostly funded by the Agency for International Development –USAID–), during their governments, the United States reached record levels of oil production and it was when the industry experienced the greatest growth cups in recent years. Obama, the great paladin of the fight against the CC, received oil production at 5.3 MBD levels, with a downward trend that was observed from Ronald Reagan. Obama reversed her and increased her 75 percent. Now, someone could probably say: “But EU does not have public companies, they did everything private,” and would technically reason, however, the boom Petroleum in unconventional deposits would not have been possible without the massive subsidies and tax incentives that the Government granted to companies. During the Presidency of Obama, the industry received 270 billion dollars in subsidies, which helped its growth and consolidation could be possible, according to a report from the Stockholm Environmental Institute (https://bit.ly/41ANH9H).

Biden also favored the industry. Under his mandate the highest level of production in history was reached, with 12.9 MBD. It was the president who most exploration and production permits granted, even above Trump, in his first term, who had the famous slogan “drilling, drilling.” In fact, Trump inherited an energy independent country thanks to the policies of the Democrats, which together increased production by 2.43 times. At the same time, through the export of EPA policies (through NGO, Think Tanks and “independent experts”), signing of international commitments such as Paris, and massive pressure to countries to close their fields of oil and gas production, and subject to the massive implementation of intermittent, the Democrats weakened all the nations that applied these policies. The enormous advantage that Trump now has in energy matters is no accident, is the result of a long plan that began to be implemented in the Obama government.

Returning to the point of the report, EU is dismantling its environmental policies to give its companies advantage over all others, just after it managed to dynamit European industries (Japan and Korea a long time ago they were subjected energetically). The same is about to do in Taiwan, since through NGOs, such as Greenpeace (lobbyists of the energy domain policy), it has managed to close their nuclear reactors and return them energy dependent on the US. Now the mask is removed, once he submitted many nations to policies that caused deindustrialization, energy poverty and economic stagnation (see cases of Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, etc.) prepares to change the “science” and abandon all kinds of historical and current responsibility on the CC. Recall that EU is the greatest historical responsible for emissions, with 20 percent. Mexico resisted that onslaught and against all the pressure managed to rescue and strengthen its energy sector, we must continue to recover the energy independence that neoliberals lost in 2014, energy sovereignty is the basis of national sovereignty.
