Artemisa and a Vietnam company agree to cultivate and export of agricultural products

The agroforestry business group of Sagebrush (GEAF) and the International Food Company Viet Royal de Vietnam They agreed to boost the cultivation and export of several agricultural products from Artemiseña lands.

The selected crops would be soybeans, green beans, peanuts, malanga and potatoes, interspersed with Marañón, in order to meet both internal demand and export needs, according to Report of Artemiseño.

Soybean and peanuts would be used for the extraction of vegetable oil destined for internal consumption and the elaboration of animal food; Meanwhile, green beans and marañón will be oriented to international markets, the source points out.

Development phases

The project, called “cultivation of industrial plants for consumption, processing and export in the province of Artemis”, contemplates several phases of development and consolidates the commercial relationship between Cuba and Vietnamese businessmen; This year they received the first lands in lease for the production of rice in Pinar del Río.

As for this new agreement, one of its principles is the use of about 2000 hectares (ha) of idle land in three municipalities: Alquízar, San Antonio de los Baños and San Cristóbal.

The parties highlighted the vitality of the soils, the climate and expressed the willingness that this is a prosperous business for the two nations.

The agreement was finalized by Nguyen Khac Hoang, general director of Viet Royal, and Miguel Sánchez García, president of the Artemiseño Business Group.

International Collaboration Model

The GEAF undertakes to provide land, factories, warehouses, fuel to operate machinery and agricultural labor, as well as manage operational processes.

Viet Royal, meanwhile, will provide machinery, initial supplies such as seeds and fertilizers, technical personnel and working capital necessary to carry out the project. In addition, it will be responsible for the marketing of the final product in collaboration with its Cuban counterpart.

This alliance not only promises to revitalize agriculture in Artemis, but also represents an international collaboration model that can be replicated in other sectors.

Promising returns in first rice harvest company Vietnamese in Cuba

According to Jorge Luis Oramas Vargas, Head of the Department of Internal Commerce, Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration of the Artemisa government, the territory “executes 17 international cooperation projects, mainly in the agriculture sector, although there are also others in sectors such as health, education, culture and sport”.

Among these projects, the official highlighted one aimed at the development of pigs and another project with China in sowing rice.

A hidden fact: Jamaica’s flower

The province “has a portfolio of 68 projects ready to present foreign investors, and continue to prepare more focused on providing solutions to specific problems,” said Oramas Vargas.

At a time when the country suffers from a serious economic and food crisis, the manager insisted on the need for municipal authorities to identify which are those areas of development that require external financing to “achieve a palpable result”.

Regarding exports, Oramas Vargas said that the province has 21 entities that produce for export and that the main items are crooked tobacco, tobacco layer, honey, and some products of agriculture such as avocado, mango, chili habanero chili, ginger and turmeric.

In addition, he said that they venture into a Jamaica flower planting program in all municipalities, and stressed that this flower has millions of properties, does not carry many health or phytosanitary attention, and has good yields. “They understand that a ton of Jamaica flower in the international market is worth around 2000 dollars,” he said.
