Only 50 Cuban migrants were intercepted on the southern border.
Miami, United States. – The meetings of Cuban citizens registered by the Office of Customs and Border Protection of the United States (CBP) fell in July of this year to 116 nationwide, the lowest monthly number of the fiscal year.
While 50 Cuban migrants were intercepted on the southern border, only 15 were arrested in the north. CBP does not specify the access points to the United States where the remaining 51 were intercepted.
In fiscal year 2025 (accumulated until July), CBP counts 32,677 Cuban meetings. The monthly behavior was as follows: October (8,246), November (8,348), December (8,974), January (6,294), February (149), March (132), April (129), May (150), June (139) and July (116).
The decrease is marked as of February: after four months with more than 6,000 monthly meetings, the figures dropped to dozens or low hundreds between February and July.
As a general context, CBP reported That July 2025 was “another month of record” in its border control missions, with 24,628 total matches nationwide, “the lowest monthly total in the history of CBP for the second consecutive month”, and 6,177 apprehensions of the border patrol service (23% less than the historical minimum of June), in addition to 4,601 apprehensions in the southwest border July, “the lowest total in a single day in the history of the agency.”
In the CBP statement, the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, said: “History was made again. The numbers do not lie: this is the safest border in history. President Donald J. Trump not only managed the crisis: he obliged it.” And he added: “No more excuses. No more liberations. We have put the defensive posters and recover our border.” In turn, Commissioner Rodney Scott said: “CBP closed the illegal crosses this month, establishing compliance records and collecting billions in tariffs.”
