INE will ask for 18 mmdp budget for 2026

INE will ask for 18 mmdp budget for 2026

The project will be sent- the executive came- to the Chamber of Deputies, which will give the last word on the request for the expense of INE, especially in the light of an eventual electoral reform that could modify the resources for the agency and the parties.

This contemplates, explained Taddei, the necessary resources to start preparing the Federal Electoral Process 2026–2027, in which the Chamber of Deputies will be renewed and the second stage of the election of magistrates and judicial people of the Judicial Power of the Federation will be held.

It also includes resources for the organization of the local electoral process in Coahuila, and attends criteria for budgetary rationality, financial discipline and austerity, he said.

The INE considers two large bags for the resource it exercises: the base budget that by 2026 amounts to 12.5 billion pesos, “with an increase of only 1.19 percent compared to the previous year”, according to Taddei.

It is also considered a bag for institutional portfolio of projects (CIP) that contemplates, for example, organization (or preparation) of credentialization elections and tasks, for which 2.5 billion pesos will be allocated.

Because the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) forces you to provide for resources if there is a popular consultation, for this they will be allocated, in caution, 3.1 billion pesos.

They modify budget

In the 2025 budget approval vote, the differences emerged, as the directors Martin Faz, Dania Ravel and Claudia Zavala emerged left without resources that could influence the exercise of rights.

For example, just over eight million for the gender and non -discrimination unit had been reduced, specifically for the task of combating sexual harassment in deconcentrated areas of the INE, and to combat political gender violence, although in the end with six votes in favor and five against it was ordered to restore those resources.

In addition, the counselor Martín Faz, spending items related to legal support for the Executive District Boards for the Federal Electoral Process; Attention and prevention of harassment and sexual harassment issues in the meetings; Support for legal assistants for executive district boards for local electoral processes and rental of emergency plants for local elections.

“Specifically, in these four projects they are, from my perspective, closely linked to rights and the fundamental activities of the institute” and the popular consultation is expected precautionary budget of 3, 119 million pesos but for now no resources related to early vote are foreseen, the vote in preventive detention and with labor rights, he said.

“The planning without assigned resources converts the objectives into simple statements impossible to materialize and lacking institutional efficiency. In short, planning without money is to plan for breach,” he evidenced.

Both Faz and Ravel stressed that 1,741 places of permanent fees are foreseen, but 1,677 are budgeted only for six months and only 64, related to party advisors or the legislative power are budgeted for the whole year.

Although the Executive Secretariat reported that this is due to the fact that the possibility that all places of permanent fees are incorporated into the INE structure, with seven votes in favor and four against the FAZ proposal to be carried out, a serious study on it in order to concrete.
