The day started at 9:00 am with 100% of the boxes installed and closed at 5:00 p.m. with a total of 35 incidents: installation in a place other than the original in 10 cases and opinion tickets exhausted before closing the day in 13 cases, in accordance with the report presented in the second extraordinary session of the Permanent Citizen Participation Commission of the IECM.
The inhabitants of the city chose between 13,357 projects registered by citizens to solve problems or innovate in their communities, ranging from ecological projects, urban services and improvement of public spaces, cultural and sports activities, among other matters.
The president of the IECM, Patricia Avendaño, acknowledged the citizen participation on Sunday because the record of projects registered for the participatory budget was exceeded, however, she said that it is necessary to have mechanisms to demand that the mayors are executed the projects once they are voted.
“It is important that the regulatory framework is perfected to allow citizens to make their rights more demanding,” said Avendaño.
For this 2025 the participatory budget is 2,143.3 million pesos, which equals 4% of the annual budget of each mayor’s office.
The IECM remains in permanent session and will resume at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
