In the midst of the geography of Meta, between mountains and at the foot of the Guayuriba River, there is one of the most enigmatic scenarios of the Colombian penitentiary system: the Agricultural Colony of Acacías.
News Colombia.
A prison in Colombia lies completely abandonment. Its deteriorated structures, empty pavilions and memories of a prison model that at the time sought the rehabilitation of inmates through rural work and education.

This center, known as Guayuriba campwas part of the seven camps that made up the Agricultural Criminal Colony of Acacías. His proposal was different from that of traditional prisons:
There arrived inmates who had shown good behavior, fulfilled much of their sentence and were close to reincorporating life in freedom.
The idea was to provide them with an environment of trust, with the work of the field and educational programs that would facilitate their reintegration.

However, time and geographical conditions played against. Built very close to the Guayuriba River, this place turned out to be highly vulnerable to the growing tributary.
The waters dragged sediments, trees and rocks, putting both inmates and infrastructure at risk. AND
In 2015, even 80 inmates were transferred from Bogotá to this camp, but shortly after the warnings of the civil defense about the threat of the river led to question its viability.
The look of a digital explorer
The abandonment of the prison has aroused curiosity among inhabitants of the region and urban explorers. One of them was the influencer Kevin Bolañoswho through his YouTube channel visited the place and narrated his experience.

On his tour, Bolaños showed what remains of the surveillance towers, the ruins, the kitchen covered by cobwebs and even an improvised sanctuary of the Virgin in the midst of deterioration.
“This corroborates us that we are in a jail,” he said as he showed the plaque of the Ministry of Interior and Justice and Inpec.
The content creator also highlighted the traces of abandonment: forgotten uniforms, missing ceilings and even a motorcycle whose origin nobody manages to explain.
His story allowed many close to what today is a vestige of what was once thought of as an innovative resocialization model in Colombia.
