“The National Electoral Institute (INE) is not an onerous institution,” said Minister UUC-KIB swords, during the presentation of the 2026 budget preliminary draft of this body, whose general request amounts to 18 thousand 159 million pesos, plus 7,737 million financing for the six national political parties.
That is, the INE will ask the Chamber of Deputies a general stock market of 25 thousand 896 million pesos.
He pointed out that pretending that the organ operates with the “precariousness” with which he set up the judicial election last June, with half of the usual boxes, “would not fill political rationality and would not fill the rationality to dry.”
If it is taken into account that the INE guarantees full elections, he added, what he asks “is truly a very minor expense.”
He argued that the Erogation of the Institute last year was equivalent to 0.2 percent of the Federation’s Expenditure Budget, so it is a “great lies” that the INE is an onerous institution.
The elements of the draft were first presented in commission and later, almost at midnight, at the Executive General Meeting, composed of the main officials of the Institute and the President Counselor, Guadalupe Taddei. The approved document will be taken to the General Council next Monday.
For the definition of figures, the INE considered a change rate of 20.56 pesos per dollar and an annual inflation of 3.62 points.
During the session of the Temporary Budget Commission, the representative of Morena, Jaime Castañeda, asked them to make an effort of austerity and reproached that some INE officials continue to win more than the president, whose salary is a constitutional cap.
He expressed confidence that confrontation in court is not repeated, as happened with previous members of the General Council and the Chamber of Deputies, because this was attempted to restore the sovereignty of the highest budgetary decision body of the country.
Castañeda indicated that as in the past, the Legislative was required to strengthen their arguments from which he set certain resources to the INE, in the institute their request must also polish because there are aspects, such as the relative to the computer issue, “watered” by all executive addresses.
“Clarity and reinforcement are required to the Chamber of Deputies, it goes and litigates with it, and neither this integration (of the Council) nor the previous one is described, but it is requested that there is dialogue and understanding. I would also ask that the budget be well disaggregated and clarified and all the expenses are explained. The sovereignty of the union does not have the obligation to prioritize the INE as if it were the center of the universe,” he said.
Other partisan representatives, such as the PAN envoys, Citizen and Green Movement, thanked that aspects for the payroll of their offices would have been corrected. “Occupational security for our staff”, said without offering details.
