A study by the organization my coexistence called «Caracas focused: the Chamas talk about work and life» exposes the reality faced by young women from vulnerable communities of the Libertador municipality, from Caracas. Found that there are «multifaceted barriers that limit their development and well -being in a context of complex humanitarian crisis ».
The panorama for young women reveal labor, educational and social obstacles that slow their development. The 15 interviewees, between 15 and 19 years of age, said that, although youth unemployment exceeds 60%, they are motivated to work to cover their personal needs and support their families. However, they face barriers such as lack of experience, age and low academic level, since Bachelor’s degree remains a fundamental requirement to access formal employment.
The investigation found that the working hours collide with the labor and that once within the labor market, the young women face inappropriate conditions: extensive days, lack of respect for free days and salaries that do not correspond to their functions. This precarious situation drives them to look for alternatives such as entrepreneurship or learning of trades in areas such as barber, hairdressing or makeup, which they said offer higher income and faster training.

In the educational field, the report suggests that the Pandemia for the COVID-19 left a vacuum in training, since the teaching was reduced to insufficient guides and classes, which resulted in little consolidated knowledge. To this reality, the domestic responsibilities that young women from vulnerable sectors must assume from an early age are added; What they commented generates tiredness, stress and, in some cases, school abandonment.
Although many of the consulted indicated that the roles they must exert in their homes are also a sample of strength and leadership, they recognize the need for the distribution of the load of tasks to be more equitable and that there is more male participation in them.
My coexistence study also found that violence is a daily part of the life of these young women and that they are exposed to street harassment and social networks that force them to modify their clothing or avoid spaces. They also explained that physical and psychological violence at home or in the vicinity generates fear, distrust and problems in interpersonal relationships. In addition, they expressed affectation in their self -esteem.
Despite these difficulties, the study highlights the resilience and desire to overcome the participants. The report concluded that it is urgent to implement programs and public policies that strengthen the capacities of young women, expand their educational and labor opportunities, and guarantee environments free of violence and discrimination.
“Recognizing its potential and breaking with traditional gender roles is key to building a fairer and more worthy future for them,” emphasizes the study.
